Lying is funny! (No, really. It is.)

Remember that movie Soul Man where that spoiled white preppy kid pretended that he was black so that he could get a scholarship to Harvard?

He kind of looks like Michael Jackson circa 1986, so I guess the movie execs who greenlighted that project weren't 100% batshit crazy. Just 75%.

Well, this is sort of like that. But not as blatantly offensive. At least it doesn't involve blackface.

Enter "Not Chosen, Just Posin'", a blog about a guy who lied about being Jewish so that he could edit a Jewish magazine. He's Italian. (Not that being Italian precludes you from being Jewish. I had two self-described "pizza bagels" for friends in high school. In college, I also knew two asian Jews and a black Jew. Just goes to show that Columbia likes its Jews from all walks of life.)

Hello, I'm LeVar Burtonstein! Welcome to Columbia!

Anyway, I think it's very funny, and ought to be even more amusing as time goes on. Can I have dibs on the movie rights?

I often tell people I am 'Canadian Jewish', just to see what conversation that starts.

Kate - I see we're both on the Not Chosen, Just Posin' bandwagon. We're being used!
